​​Courtney Kramer is a first-time screenwriter, visual artist and avid international traveler from Iowa. After beginning her career in the nonprofit sector, she spent much of her professional life in software and medical sales. The Solo Ticket was inspired by a remarkable weekend in her own life: she lost her job on a Friday, her relationship ended on Saturday, and on Sunday she booked a solo ticket to Turks and Caicos and left the following day. Drawing on years of solo travel and her own experience of rediscovering confidence in midlife, Kramer transformed that spark into a fictional story about reinvention, authenticity and the courage to choose an uncertain future. At 48, she remains happily unconvinced that any of us are supposed to have it all figured out.
